to the Nekoosa Fire Department web page. We provide service to the city of Nekoosa, along with the Town of Port Edwards, Town of Saratoga, and the Ho-Chunk Nation. There is approximately 60.5 square miles, with a total population of approximately 4600 residents based on the 2000 census. This Department is located in the center of our city on Hwy 173 and Ward Street.
We currently have 30 firefighters. We are trained in various areas from vehicle extrication, swift water rescue, ice rescue, Rapid Intervention Team, wild land fires, hazardous materials, and CPR/AED certifies members with a state certified team of First Responders. This department responds to approximately 100 calls per year ranging from car accidents, structure fires, carbon monoxide calls, and occasionally search and rescue.
